Day 3 leaves Dinner Plain Alpine Village and heads to the Alpine Ski Resort of Mt Hotham perched high along the Great Alpine Road, spectacular views await of the jewel in the Victorian Alps, the mighty Mt Feathertop and the Razorback with the State’s highest peak, Mt Bogong in the distance. Riders are well and truly in the heart of Victoria’s largest National Park. At 646,000 hectares, the Alpine National Park protects the State’s highest mountains and varied alpine environments. A short digression off the bitumen along the Hotham-Dinner Plain Ski trail and management roads in the ski resort will break up the haul on the black stuff as you head out to Buckland Gap and the first feed station. From here it’s into to some rugged country along a ridge top track offering great views, tough pinch climbs and exciting descents which ultimately bring you to the sleepy hamlet of Harrietville. Load up at the second feed station or, if your not in a hurry, grab an icecream from the icecream shop, it will be worth the delay. From the floor of the Ovens Valley you will climb back up and over Mount Ebeneezerand the final descent into Bright and the finish line.

Bright is a great stopover with 3 nights based in this popular tourist town. River walks, cafes, the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, local wineries and brewery, nearby Mt Buffalo National Park and more makes for a great base for riders and support crew alike
