FAQ's
Where do we have to register at the event?
Registration day (day zero) is in Falls Creek on Saturday March 29th. You will be required to register in person and preferably with your team mate. There is a mandatory rider briefing on day zero for all competitors. You will be emailed more detailed info on registration closer to the event.
How will you protect our bikes at night?
Each night you will be able to put your bike in the secured bike park and pick it up the next day.
Will all my gear fit into the bag provided in the transport package?
That depends on how much gear you intend on bringing. The bag supplied in transport package is 90 Litres so it’s a fairly large bag. If you want more luggage capacity then you can purchase an additional bag when you register or you can come back later and purchase one when you know how much capacity you will need. A tip here is to consider purchasing an extra to share with your team mate. You will have to arm wrestle to see who gets to keep it after the race though.
If I choose to camp, will you transport my tent and gear as well?
Yes, provided it is in a duffle bag provided in the transport package. You may need to buy an extra one for the camping gear.
Do I need a support team?
The choice is yours. If have a support team then bring them along. The old saying the more the merrier applies. If it’s just you and your team mate we will take care of all your requirements. All you need to do is decide if you want the catering package as well as the transport package.
Are the meals served or buffet style?
The meals will be buffet style and plentiful
If I have food allergies can I get a specialised meal?
Sorry, we will be unable to cater for food allergies and special dietary requirements. In this case you will have to make your own meal arrangements. The good news is that all the overnight towns have an excellent range of eating options available.
Will I be able to purchase additional menu items to the ones provided in the catering package?
Not directly from Terra Australis. There may be an opportunity to buy additional menu items from the venue that is hosting the evening meal but we cannot guarantee this.
Will I need to do some altitude training to adapt to the mountains for the event?
No not really. Both Falls Creek and Dinner Plain are about 1500 mts above sea level and you shouldn’t need to acclimatise at this height. If you are unsure, arrive a day or two earlier at Falls Creek and do some leisurely riding before the event.
Do we need to be able to navigate the course ourselves or is the course marked.
The course will be fully marked. Terra Australis is not an orienteering event. Of course if you have good navigation and map reading skills they may come in handy but are not necessary. GPS devices are also optional at your own discretion. If you like to use one use it. We do not provide GPS data of the courses however.
