FAQ's

What date do you use as the cut-off to determine what age category I can enter?

We take your age as at the start date of the race. For example for the 2009 race we will use your age on March 29th 2009.

I am very keen to enter but I do not have a partner?

It is mandatory for every entrant to have a partner. There are reasons for this and the primary one is safety and we do not want to risk the safety of any competitors. Consider this question…would you head out on an epic 100KM ride in an area you had never ridden on your own, without a friend or even a few? We would hope the answer is no. Besides, we believe that the sharing of this epic journey with a partner only adds to the experience. To find a partner there are a few things you can do. Talk to the people in you’re cycling network (we all have them) and see if there is any one also interested in doing the event. Join a cycling club and see if you can hook up with a partner from the club. You can check the team finder page on the website and check the forum for other people also looking for a partner and post a thread of your own looking for a partner. Good luck !!!!

Can I register for the event even though I don’t have a teammate yet?

No. At this stage of the events development there is no need to do this. We are not proposing to cap entries and there is no early bird or late fee for entries. Entries close on 28th February 2009 so there is no need to enter without a partner to hold a spot. Having said that, I would not leave every thing to the last minute to organise. The sooner you do find a partner and get entered the sooner your mindset is around preparing for the race. You will be committed and motivated to get on with it.

What currency is the entry fee in?

All fees, charges and prices displayed on the website are in Australian Dollars and include the 10% GST.

When is the balance of my registration fee due?

After paying the deposit the balance of all your team fees including add ons is payable by the 31st December 2008. After this date all team fees including add ons are due in full at the time of online registration.

Can I upgrade to include catering and transport after I have entered?

Yes you can. If you go to the registration page on the website you will find a link to follow which will allow you to purchase all the add on packages.

If the event is for 2 person teams why are you allowing teams of 3 to enter?
We have included the team of 3 category to make the event as inclusive to as many riders as we can. For whatever reason some people may not be able to commit to a team of 2. Fitness, baby-sitting even sharing a bike are just 3 that come to mind.

What race categories due you have?
There are 6 categories in the 2 person team competition. They are Open Men – Open Women – Open Mixed – Masters Men (40+) – Masters Mixed (40+) and Super Masters open gender (50+). In the 3 person team competition it’s all in one – open age, open gender.

Is there a minimum age to enter?

Yes. You must be at least 18 on the start date of the event to enter
