TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Participants must be experienced Mountain Bike Riders and be 18 years of age as at the start of Terra Australis.
- Participants who cannot continue the race must inform the organisers of their decision by contacting one of the race officials listed below Failure to inform the race organisers of your withdrawal may result in a search and rescue operation, the cost of which will be paid by the participant. If one team member withdraws from the race the remaining team member may form a new team with another competitor. The newly formed team will not qualify for a placing but will receive a finishers t-shirt and medal.

- All competitors must read, understand and obey the race rules which can be downloaded in PDF format from the event website.
- Littering of any kind is prohibited. This includes the discarding of gel and energy bar wrappers on the course, at aid stations or in the finish area. Severe race penalties apply to any competitor who litters as well as possible prosecution by local police.
- All care must be given to the natural environment in which the race is conducted. There is to be no washing of bikes, clothes or yourself in rivers, streams and lakes. Shortcutting or riding off the marked trails is prohibited in the race rules and will be severely dealt with by race organisers.
- In the event of major environmental concerns, the race organisers have the right to cancel, delay or re-route the race or any stage within the race. The cancellation policy applies in these circumstances. In the event of the cancellation of a stage the race organisers will transport the participants to the next stage location.
- All participants must acknowledge and accept the participant waiver for their entry to be accepted.
- There are 6 categories offered in the teams of 2 competition. They are open men, open women, open mixed, masters (40+) men, masters (40+) mixed, super masters (50+) open gender. Riders in the masters categories must be 40 or over on the day the race starts and riders in the super masters category must be over 50 on the day the race starts. There are no age and gender categories in the teams of 3 competition.
- If you have purchased a transport package you will receive a Terra Australis Duffle bag (90 litres). You must transfer all you wish to transport into this duffle bag, as it is the only bag we will transport. You can purchase an additional bag if required. Participants must drop off their duffle bag at the luggage station located at the start by 7:30AM. The bags can then be picked up at the finish of each stage before going to your accommodation
- Participants are responsible for organising their own accommodation in each overnight stopover. A list of stage locations and overnight stopovers is available on the website along with contact details for accommodation providers in each stopover.
- Bike maintenance is ultimately the responsibility of the competitor. Riders should be prepared to perform regular maintenance and repair. We recommend that you commence the event on a mechanically sound bike that has been thoroughly inspected and serviced prior to arriving at the event. There will be limited mechanical support available on the course during each stage. At each finish location there will be mechanical service available on a user pays basis.
- The catering package includes a buffet style evening meal for day 0 through to day 6 (7 meals) and a breakfast provided for day 1 to day 7 (7 meals). There will be 2 aid stations on each stage providing water and food. Any additional race nutrition will need to be supplied by the competitor. Any catering requirements for after the stage finish and before the evening meal are the responsibility of the competitor. Independent food providers are available in each stage finish town.
- At each stage finish there will be a secured bike park. Riders must drop off their bike before 9:00PM. At 9:00 PM the bike park will be closed and only accredited tech service personnel will be allowed access. The bike park will be re-opened at 6:00AM the following day and all bikes must be collected by 7:30AM after which time they will be unsecured. The organisers take no responsibility for bike thefts or damage and we recommend that you have a keyed or combination lock for your bike. To retrieve your bike from the park you must present your race accreditation pass and it must match your bike number.
- Participants must in good physical condition and have some mountain bike riding experience. All participants are responsible for their own personal accident and travel insurance. An MTBA racing licence is required and must be produced at registration. If participants do not have an MTBA licence an MTBA event licence must be purchased.
- Participants may wear sponsors logos on their clothing, bike helmets and bike. Bike number plates cannot be altered in any way. Category leaders after each stage are required to wear the race leaders jersey and no covering or altering of the leader jersey is permitted. No signage of any kind is permitted in the Race start/finish area unless approved by the race organisers.
- The race organisers advise all participants that are not Australian Nationals that the participant is responsible for obtaining the relevant travel authorisation and documents that may be required to participate in TERRA AUSTRALIS. You can obtain all the necessary information from the Australian Consulate in your own Country. All prices quoted on the website and in the online entry system are in Australian Dollars.
- Any timing equipment issued to a participant (ie: timing transponder) remains the property of the organisers and a security deposit will be required before any timing equipment will be issued. The security deposit must be paid in cash at the time of registration on day zero. Non-return of the transponder will result in the forfeiture of the deposit.
- To complete registration for the event each participant must attend the registration day on day zero. They will receive their registration pack and be formally registered upon presentation of their confirmation of entry and a form of photographic ID. If a participant cannot appear in person a substitute may pick up the registration pack provided they present a written power of attorney signed by the registrant with an additional form of signature ID. Participants who cannot attend the registration process should contact the race organiser via email to inform then that a proxy is attending. All participants must attend the race briefing on day zero in person prior to starting the race. Non-attendance at the pre race briefing will result in forfeiture of your entry.
- Finish Line Events reserves the right to cancel any participants continued entry in the event if:
- The participant contravenes the race regulations, guidelines and rules that are issued to the participants before or during the race
- The participant ignores or disobeys any instructions issued by the race organisers or their staff and race officials.
- The participant disrupts the event in a negative or dangerous manner or presents a threat to himself/herself or any other person.
- Finish line events reserves the right to change any team name that conflicts with another team name or is of an offensive or unacceptable nature.
- Finish Line Events accepts no responsibility for the loss or theft of any participant’s personal belongings, valuables or equipment. Participants are advised to have appropriate insurance. Participants are advised not to leave valuables or money in the luggage that is transported by Finish Line Events.
- By registering in the event participants give their consent to the race organisers collecting and distributing event related media such as individuals results, photographs, video images and interviews without any form of remuneration.
